Sono Min Gi-nam, who finished his professional debut season, said, “I have a lot of regrets, but I will make up for the shortcomings.”
Min Gi-nam’s expression after his first professional season was full of regret.
On the 5th, the “2024 KUSF College Basketball U-League” match between Dongguk University and Sungkyunkwan University was held at the Seoul Campus Gymnasium. A man was watching the game intently in the cheering section of Sungkyunkwan University. He was a Goyang Sono Min Gi-nam who recently finished his professional debut season. He visited Dongguk University to cheer for his juniors.
“I took a day off because the season is over. Unfortunately, the college league is starting, so I wanted to watch the younger players play. I came to cheer for a match at Dongguk University today (May 5),” he said.
Min joined Sono last year as the third pick in the second round of the KBL Rookie Draft. Despite being 172 centimeters tall, he was advantageous due to his fast speed and persistent defense. Kim Seung-ki was short but occasionally given chances to play, and averaged 4 minutes and 22 seconds in 22 regular league games.
“I have a lot of regrets. Even as a second baseman, I received many opportunities, and my fans cheered me on more than I expected. I don’t think I have shown much compared to the opportunities given. It was a great experience, but it was a debut season that left me with a lot of regrets,” Min said.
One of the strengths that Min has shown since he was a fanatic broadcasting and art high school was his sincerity. Even though he is on vacation, he has not neglected weight training to maintain his body. If he shows better performance through off-season training, he is expected to continue to step on the court next season.
Min said, “I don’t think I should take a break for two months at all. I thought about taking a break for a week and not doing anything, but my personality doesn’t allow it. So I am constantly doing weight training now. I will start my basketball training in earnest from May. I want to make up for my shortcomings and maximize my strengths,” he said.
He continued, “I’m planning to travel with my family. I like to travel alone, so I’m planning to travel alone again this time. And most of all, I have to get a driver’s license. I don’t think it should be late anymore. I plan to enroll at the driving academy as soon as possible,” he said with a smile.
Despite the support of their seniors, Sungkyunkwan lost to Dongguk University 89-92. Nevertheless, they showed their ability to chase and catch up to 20 points in the second half.
“Sungkyunkwan University is a slow starter. I think I will do well from now on. It’s still early in the season, so I hope no one gets hurt.
