S. Korea’s Paradise Co. casinos up 25% in May
Casino sales at Paradise, South Korea’s foreign-only casino operator, rose 25.2 percent in May from a year earlier, data showed Thursday on the Korea Exchange.
It earned about 51.96 billion won ($48.5 million) in revenue compared to about 41.51 billion won in May last year.
Revenue rose 22.0% year-on-year to nearly 47.53 billion won in May 2018.
Paradise’s machinery sales jumped 74.6% to 4.43 billion won in May this year.
The company’s monthly update does not provide a comment on why sales fluctuated year-over-year.
Paradise’s total casino revenue in January-May 2018 was approximately 238.83 billion won, up 16.6% year-over-year.
Table sales for the first five months of the year to May 31 rose 15.8% year-on-year to about W220.89 billion. In the first five months of the year, sales of machinery rose 28.2% to nearly W17.95 billion.

Paradise’s latest casino figures are based on the results of four venues operated by its casino business division. Walkerhill in Seoul, Jeju Grand in Jeju Island, Busan Casino in the southern port city of Busan, and Paradise City in Incheon (pictured) are near the main international airport serving the capital city of Seoul.
