Elbow injury again? HOU ace Valdez cancels pitch due to elbow pain
Another ace felt something wrong with his elbow.
The official major league website MLB.com reported on the 9th (Korea Standard Time) that Houston Astros Framber Valdez canceled his appearance due to elbow pain.
Houston left-hander Valdez was scheduled to start the away game against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, but felt pain in his left elbow while playing catch on the 8th.
The Houston team canceled Valdez’s appearance and sent him to Houston for testing. And right-handed pitcher Blair Henry was called up from Triple-A and named the starting pitcher for the day.
According to MLB.com , the Houston team is currently optimistic about Valdez’s condition. Coach Joe Espada said he would not put Valdez on the injured list. However, that could change if problems are detected during testing.
Valdez pitched 12.1 innings with a 2.19 ERA in two games this season. He took on the opening day starting pitcher, with Justin Verlander starting this season on the injured list. Valdez, born in 1993, is in his seventh season with Houston in 2018. His career big league record is 131 games, 724.2 innings, 53-34 losses, and a 3.38 ERA.
Pitchers’ elbow injuries have recently been a problem in the Major League Baseball. Shane Bieber (CLE) and Spencer Strider (ATL) were injured on the day, causing major problems, while Yuri Perez (MIA) and Lucas Giolito (BOS) were injured in camp. Shohei Ohtani (LAD), Jacob deGrom (TEX), Sandy Alcantara (MIA), Robbie Ray (SF), and Shane McClanner (TB) were already injured last year.
The Major League Baseball players union blames the office for an elbow injury caused by a pitcher’s pitch watch, but the office counters there is no scientific correlation between the pitch watch and the injury, and the injury is the result of pitchers’ pursuit of increased speed and speed. 와이즈토토
