Nippon Ham Fighters right-hander Naoyuki Uasawa of the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) is knocking on the big league door.

Uasawa has 45 days to negotiate with the 30 major league teams. The deadline is January 11th at 5pm Eastern time.

When signing a contract with a major league club, the original team, Nippon Ham, will receive a certain percentage of the contract amount as a posting fee.

If the total guaranteed amount is less than $25 million, 20% of the total amount is charged as a posting fee. If the contract exceeds $25 million and becomes a contract worth less than $50 million, an additional 20% of the $25 million plus 17.5% of the excess amount will be charged.

If it exceeds $50 million, an additional 15% of the excess amount is charged on top of the previous amount.

If bonuses, salary increase clauses, options, etc. are additionally guaranteed, an additional 15% will be received.
